The County of Marin offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement savings. Eligible employees are provided with an allowance that can be used to purchase health benefits including medical, dental, and vision as well as Life and Long Term Disability Insurance. Health Benefits

Our health benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance as well as life and long-term disability insurance.

County Retirement Plan

The County provides a defined benefit retirement plan under the 1937 County Retirement Act. Full-time and part-time employees who work ¾ time or more are automatically enrolled in the plan.

Flexible Spending Account

Flexible spending account (FSA) is a tax-advantaged account that allows you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified medical (Health FSA) or dependent care (DCAP) expenses.

Transit Benefits

The RideGreen program is the County’s comprehensive commute alternatives program that includes incentives for carpooling and bicycling in addition to the pre-tax benefits for transit commuting.

Employee Assistance Program

EAP provides short-term, solution-oriented counseling to employees and their family members. Services are free, voluntary and confidential.

Additional Benefits

  • Life and AD & D Insurance — Life insurance offers you and your loved ones basic financial protection if you die. All regular-hire employees are automatically enrolled in Basic Life & AD&D coverage. Employees may also purchase Dependent Life & AD&D Insurance and/or Supplemental Life Insurance.
  • Long Term Disability — Long Term Disability Insurance may replace a portion of your income if you become sick or injured and unable to work for an extended period of time.
  • Nationwide - Employees may contribute to the Marin County 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan offered through Nationwide.
